PROGRAM/CURRICULUM

At the sixth grade level, students receive a full year of instruction in the following curriculum areas: social studies, math, science, language arts, and keyboarding/computer applications. The sixth grade language arts program provides two periods of instruction that focus on an integrated study of reading and writing. The keyboarding/computer applications class integrates formal keyboarding lessons with instruction in the use of a variety of other programs (word processing, desktop publishing, data base) and applications. Assignments for computer applications class are often integrated projects from other academic areas.

The purpose of keyboarding is to teach students the touch method of keying and to provide them with the document formatting skills that they will need to excel in Computer Applications.
